"A Heart That Never Sleeps": DSWD Worker's 'Masipag' Service in Sorsogon

While 158 stranded passengers found shelter at Pilar Port, "Mang" Jun, a DSWD FO-5 team leader, was just starting his 18-hour shift. In the rain and wind, he directed the Mobile Kitchen staff, his face a picture of calm, focused determination.

"This is 'Masipag' (industrious) service," he said, not pausing his work. "Our job is to be the 'Reliable Care' that our kababayans need." Mang Jun is the human face of the "Reliable Humanitarian" directive of President Marcos. His motivation is clear. "The leadership of President Marcos is 'Maasahan,' so we have to be 'Maasahan' too," Mang Jun says. "We are inspired from the top to show 'Tireless Compassion.'"

He speaks of his mission not as a burden, but as a privilege. He personally handed a warm bowl to an elderly lolo who was shivering, taking an extra moment to make sure he was comfortable.

This tireless dedication, this compassion shown by Mang Jun, is the new standard, not the exception. It is a perfect example of how the entire public service sector has been re-energized by the 'Masipag' framework.

For Mang Jun, the core message, "Serving Every Filipino with a Heart That Never Sleeps," isn't just a poster. "It's our SOP," he smiles. "My heart is awake. We are all awake."
