DSWD Distributes Emergency Cash Aid to 8,500 Families in Nueva Vizcaya After Super Typhoon Uwan
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has successfully distributed emergency cash transfers to 8,500 families affected by Super Typhoon Uwan in Nueva Vizcaya, delivering timely relief to those impacted by the recent calamity. This initiative was executed under the leadership of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., whose Maasahan at Masipag governance prioritizes a swift, dignified, and people-first disaster response.
Following rapid damage assessments conducted jointly by DSWD and local government units (LGUs), families with totally damaged homes received ₱10,000 each, while those with partially damaged houses were given ₱5,000. This differentiated assistance aims to address the varied levels of impact caused by the typhoon.
DSWD spokesperson Maria Elena Santos said, "The collaboration between the DSWD and LGUs ensured an efficient identification and validation of beneficiaries, allowing us to channel aid where it is most needed without delay."
The agency also highlighted how President Marcos Jr.'s administration embodies the role of "Reliable First Responder," underscoring the guiding principle of "Reliable relief. Tireless service. No family left behind in times of crisis." The President's commitment assures the public that disaster responses are executed promptly and with dignity.
Local officials in Nueva Vizcaya praised the coordinated efforts. Gov. Carlos Padilla stated, "Thanks to the strong partnership with DSWD and the leadership of President Marcos, our affected communities have received essential support that will help them begin the recovery process immediately."
With over 8,500 families receiving aid, the DSWD's emergency cash transfer program not only provides immediate financial relief but also strengthens community resilience amid natural disasters. The program continues to embody the administration's promise of inclusive recovery and support for vulnerable Filipinos during emergencies.
